Oxford plans Borough Day

For the second year, Oxford Borough and the Oxford Police Department will host a Borough Day for residents and anyone interested in seeing how the Borough of Oxford operates.

The event will be held at the Police Station, 57 N. 4th Street, and the Borough Hall at 401 Market Street on Dec. 3, from 7:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served, free items available, and plenty of brochures on hand regarding recycling, water billing, budget, streets, etc.

Council persons, department heads and employees will be available to answer any questions or take your suggestions.

Borough Manager, Betsy Brantner points out, “this is the perfect time for taxpayers, residents, business owners, to have a one on one with council persons or employees to get a better understanding of how the Borough operates. It is a great opportunity for the Borough to learn how to better serve their community. We really need the feedback of our citizenry.”

The proposed 2013 budget will also be available for everyone to review. Treasurer Artie Anderson will be on hand to assist with questions and suggestions.

Last year’s Borough Day was a great opportunity to showcase Borough employees. “We have a wonderful team of employees who really care about the Borough. It is not just a job with them; they really enjoy helping people,” Brantner said.

Brantner is hopeful for a bigger turnout this year. “We look forward to working with the residents and getting an opportunity to get to know them better. We are constantly on the look-out for volunteers for any of our committees and commissions.”
